11th Biennial Women’s Network Convention & Education Conference — UFCW Women: Building Our Union

I was recently invited to attend the 11th Biennial Women’s Network Convention & Education Conference in San Diego, California, from December 4 to 7, 2014. Women from UFCW Locals across the United States and Canada gathered to network, share stories and focus on some topics affecting women.

UFCW Participates in ChildCare 2020 Conference

The ChildCare 2020 Conference was held in Winnipeg on November 13 to 15. This was only the fourth national conference of this type held and over 500 participants from across Canada attended, including several delegates from all over UFCW Canada. Some of the goals of the conference included:

Women’s committee meet at MFL convention

The Manitoba Federation of Labour held it’s tri-annual convention from June 22-24 in Winnipeg. On June 22, the Women’s Committee held a forum with the purpose of informing and educating delegates about the disgraceful state of services for women following recent government cuts.

Judy Cook Woman of Achievement Award

At every MFL Convention, the Women’s Committee awards the Judy Cook Woman of Achievement Award.  The award is given to a sister who has worked to further the women’s movement and is named for the late sister Judy Cook, a passionate Labour and Community activist.
