Health & Safety Workshops

The UFCW Local 832 Health & Safety Diploma Program consists of the following workshops:

1. Level 1 (2 Days)

For new committee members to review legislation, the three rights, the roles of committees and how to function effectively.

2. Intro to WCB (2 Days)

Focused on the guide to working with the Workers Compensation Board.  It is a must for committee members to assist their co-workers with injury reporting and understanding the WCB system.

3. Violence/Stress Prevention (2 Days)

Focused on violence prevention and dealing with stress in the workplace. In day one, members will learn to identify the risk factors that contribute to violence in the workplace and prevention. In day two members will learn to identify the sources and symptoms of stress, the effects and techniques for prevention.

4. Ergonomics (2 Days)

Defines what ergonomics is, why it is important, how it affects us and solutions to make our workplaces ergonomically healthy.

5. WHMIS (1 Day)

Provides vital information about hazardous materials in the workplace that have now been enacted into law and employee rights and responsibilities.

6.  Strategies for dealing with Management (2 Days)

Developing strategies and skills for communicating with management to eliminate hazards and maximize safety in your workplace.
