Tentative Deal Reached for Gillam Co-op Members

On July 13, the Union and the Co-op bargaining committees reached a tentative deal on the renewal of the collective agreement for the members working at the Gillam Co-op. The Union will be scheduling a ratification meeting in the very near future and will advise the members of the date and time as soon as it is confirmed.

Gillam Co-op Negotiations Continuing Next Month

June 5, 2018

The Union and the Co-op negotiating committees met again during the week of May 28 to continue negotiations towards the renewal of the collective agreement for the members working at the Gillam Co-op.

During this session, the parties resumed talks on the outstanding non-monetary items, which the majority of them have now been dealt with. The parties also provided complete responses on all outstanding items, including the monetary issues.

Negotiations will resume next month on July 11, 12 and 13.

Gillam Co-op Negotiations Ongoing

May 1, 2018

The Union and the Gillam Co-op commenced negotiations on April 24 to 26, 2018. Both sides brought many proposals to the table, which they would like to see negotiated into the renewed collective agreement on behalf of UFCW Local 832 members working at the Co-op.

Gillam Co-op Negotiations Delayed

February 8, 2018

Due to a scheduling conflict, negotiations previously scheduled with the Co-operative for January 30, 31, February 1 will now be held on April 24, 25 and 26.

Union negotiator Sonia Taylor will provide a further update after the first session of negotiations.

Negotiations Commence at Gillam Co-op on January 30, 2018

Union negotiator Sonia Taylor will be spearheading the negotiations for the renewal of the collective agreement for our members at Gillam Co-op. Bargaining is scheduled to start on January 30, 2018, continuing on February 1, 2018.

Members can watch for further updates as negotiations progress.

Proposals Meeting Scheduled for Gillam Co-op Members

Part of the bargaining process is for the union to get ideas from the members as to what they would like to see changed in their new collective agreement. The current agreement for the Gillam Co-op expires on December 31, 2017.

As such, the union has scheduled a proposal meeting for November 28. This will give the members at the Gillam Co-op a chance to bring their ideas forward so that the union committee can draft their official proposals to present to the Co-op once negotiations begin.

On October 5,  Blair Hudson, the northern union representative for local 832, conducted a proposal meeting for employees working at the Gillam Co-op. During the meeting, the union finalized a number of proposals that were brought forth by the membership, both at the meeting and during the life of the collective bargaining agreement.  The union members would like to see a number of improvements in the new agreement.  They stated they would need significantly more wages, both at the start rate and the top rate, and they require additional benefits and recognition because they live in such a rem
