Maple Leaf Brandon Bargaining Update

June 27, 2019

Check out President Jeff Traeger's video update above.

Your bargaining committee lead by Jeff Traeger, President of UFCW Local 832 and Lead Negotiator started negotiations with the Employer last week, June 26 and 27.

Your Union presented the original package of proposals that came from you, the members, in the many ways in which you presented them to us earlier this year. Bargaining was just at the intro stage, it was an exchange of proposals and the opportunity to discuss them.

We are breaking for the summer, and we will be back on September 3, 2019, for 20 days of bargaining that we have scheduled into October.

Your Union wants to also recognize the situation with the Chinese government restricting pork imports from Canada and the potential impact that could have on the industry.  We urge the federal government to get this resolved quickly, so the industry can get back to normal.

There will not be many updates over the summer, but stay tuned to www.ufcw832.com/mapleleaf as we get closer to the fall for bargaining updates.
