New deal for members at AVIS Budget Rental Car

On Friday, December 14, the members at AVIS Budget Rental Car ratified a new three-year deal by 93% with improvements to many areas of the collective agreement. 

Minimum wage gap will now have 10¢ spread between rates on the wage scales. Members on the current wage scales will have wages increases from 50¢ to 80¢ retroactive to May 1, 2018, and overscaled employees will have 8.75% wage increases during the three years retroactive to May 1, 2018. 

The new deal includes lump-sum payments of $150.00 for service agents and $400.00 for Rental and Rover agents. The new deal also brings an Increases to boot allowance and a premium for lead hands. 

Part-time hours for wage increases have been reduced to 700 hours, and part-time employees working 32 hours will now qualify for Health and Welfare benefits.

Other benefits include:
Improvements to vacations.
Improvements to bereavement leave.
General Holidays will be staffed on a voluntary basis.
Unused sick days will be paid out each year.
Language cleanup throughout the collective agreement.
Added in Domestic Violence Leave wording matching the current provincial legislation.

Avis Budget Car Rental Canada ULC is a vehicle renting business operating at the Richardson Airport and on King Edward Street. We represent the members at the rentals desks and the car detailers at the King Edward location.
