The attached video was posted on Tuesday, September 25, from Jeff Traeger to thank the members for their strong strike mandate.

September 24, 2018, at 8:30 p.m. - After several meetings across the province and a day of drop-in voting at the UFCW Training Centre, workers at Superstore, Extra Foods, and No Frills all across Manitoba voted 99% in favour of giving their bargaining committee a strike mandate.

“This 99% result sends a strong message to Loblaw that the membership is serious about a fair offer,” stated President Jeff Traeger. “The workers are the backbone of this company. It’s time Loblaw gave a fair deal that respects the hard work and effort that our members put into this company.”

The collective agreement expires on September 27, 2018, for members working for Loblaw in Winnipeg, Brandon, Steinbach, Winkler, Dauphin, Swan River, and The Pas.  The union is back at the table with the employer this week, fighting for a fair contract. Bargaining will go around the clock if necessary until the contract expiration date.

A strike deadline has not yet been set.

UFCW Local 832 represents over 3500 workers at Superstore, Extra Foods, and No Frills stores across the province.
