You are likely aware that the Provincial government is seeking wage freezes in the public sector for the next two years. We are disappointed that government went directly to the media with this, before our bargaining had even begun! This directly impacts you as members at the Grace. Rest assured that we will do whatever it takes to achieve improvements in your next collective agreement. We will keep you informed as negotiations progress- our website will be updated)
and we will mail out negotiations updates periodically.
One critical issue that came through loud and clear in the membership proposals meetings was the Pension Plan. As you may be aware, UFCW Local 832 participates on the Manitoba Council of Health Care Unions (MCHCU). We have prepared an information brochure for you regarding the Healthcare Employees Pension Plan (HEPP)- enclosed. The participating unions have all agreed that we do not want to see reductions in the HEPP benefits. We will continue to advocate for increased contributions from the employers and employees in order to maintain benefits, as well as the start of a COLA (cost of living allowance) fund. All unions are involved in this, whether they are in negotiations or not.
If you have any questions about the negotiations process or HEPP please give UFCW Local 832 negotiator, Michelle Masserey a call at 480-4937. You can also email her at michelle.masserey@ufcw832.com.
