Loblaw Bargaining Updates

  • UFCW 832 calls for strike mandate vote against Loblaw

    September 15, 2018

UFCW Local 82 is asking for members working at Loblaw stores across Manitoba to give a strong strike mandate to the bargaining committee to send a message to the company.

"Your bargaining committee is extremely disappointed with the offer that was tabled by Loblaw," said President Jeff Traeger. "It's very clear to us at this point that Loblaw is not taking this as seriously as we need them to."

Strike Mandate Meetings will be held on Sunday, September 23  in every community where Loblaw stores are located. An additional drop-in day of voting will be held on Monday, September 24 at the UFCW Training Centre in Winnipeg, for those who were not able to make the Sunday night meeting. You will receive an information package, and you will have the opportunity to ask questions.

"It's critically important that members show up at one of the meetings, to give your bargaining committee a strong strike mandate, so your union can go back to the table and get a better deal for all members working for Loblaw," stated President Jeff Traeger.

In the meantime, your bargaining committee sits down with Loblaw again this week, starting on September 18th, and will be fighting for a fair deal.

The Loblaw collective agreement expires on September 27, 2018.
