With over 25 years of union experience, Ray Berthelette has made a career advocating for the betterment of working people in Manitoba. Ray joins Local 832 as a Westman union representative after spending over 20 years with the Manitoba Government Employees Union. For much of that time, Ray was based in Thompson where he also served as President of the Thompson Labour Council.
Ray is a strong advocate for aboriginal and First Nation’s people. He has served as local president of the Manitoba Métis Federation, Thompson region, and also spent three years as vice-president and aboriginal representative of the Manitoba Federation of Labour. Ray has also served on many other labour committees and boards in Manitoba.
Ray has also served on many other labour committees and boards in Manitoba. He actually began his career as a member of Local 832, working for the now-defunct Manitoba Sugar Company. A long-time resident of Brandon, Ray attended Brandon University and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree where he majored in Native Studies.
Ray is presently the union representative for UFCW Local 832 members in the Westman area.
